Making Good Use of a Sunday Afternoon (and scraps)

One of my daughters takes seriously the Biblical mandate to take care of orphans and widows.  She and her husband have adopted three children (and have two bios) and every Sunday after church, they drive to my mom's (about 10 miles), fix lunch and spend the afternoon with her.  I often show up too.  Now that football season is over, my daughter suggested helping me with cards that I would send to OWH.  I am trying to plan cards the kids can help with.  I also think this might be a great way to use up some scraps so I take piles of scraps and we try to do something with them.  I finished this card at home but did all the strips at my mom.  I really like how it turned out.

Butterflies with Bling

The sketch at Card Patterns is a great sketch for using up some little pieces of DP. Here is my take on the sketch
The flower is made with three different die cuts and the butterflies are punched out with a Martha Stewart punch..

Song of Love

Most of the distressing that I do on cards is just on the edges.  I am trying to get out of my box but as you will see, I am still really conservative.  But at least I used three different inks this time! LOL

Just Playin' Around Can Be Fun

When I print off digital images, I usually choose a variety to fill up a page leaving  space around each image in case I want to cut it out in a Spellbinder shape.  I started playing with this image, with a sketch in mind but then changed my mind and decided to use the whole piece as a wall.  I cut out the windows, added a window sheet and raindrop BG paper by Doodle Pantry.  The cat image is by Meljen Design.   Wood  paneling is GKD and pot of Basil is Doodle Pantry. Wall paper is a stamp from  Stampin Up Fresh Fillers.
Very fun to play with this digital image.  I hardly ever use my Fresh Filler set but it seems to make for a good wallpaper.  and the wood paneling was a scrap that I just knew would come in handy some day. Yep, can't throw anything away no matter how small! LOL

Little Girls Loving Doggy Licks

I was never one who loved doggy licks. I didn't then and still don't like dog slobber.   I know it makes some kids giggle but I was never one of them.    But I do love this stamps set by Unity called Good Morning. . Lots of paper piecing- hurray for scraps-  and a little bit of colored pencils.

The sketch is at Sweet Stop http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/2012/02/sss145-february-11.html

Post with a Purpose

Purpose of this post is to eliminate any confusion as it pertains to my 15 entries in the CPS challenge.  Some of my cards which I entered, I used Splitcoast Stampers and Stamp TV  as my posting sites so I though that I would post those here (with links) so I could just enter this blog site in the final Grand Prize Link.

My Last Card For All 15 Sketches

Yes, this is the last of the 15 sketches at CPS.  It has been really fun.  This one was probably the hardest for me.
I used stamps I have never used before and really like how it turned out.  Hard to see, but there is a strip of lace on top the ribbon.  The BG paper is made with a stamp.

Love Is A Balancing Act

Have you ever thought that?  I sure have.  It is sometimes necessary to say no, to have what they call tough love in order to show that you love someone.  This balancing act by Designed2Delight is just for fun and giving it to a little girl.
And here is the sketch at CPS http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/2012/02/cps-5th-anniversary-day-11-with-jennie.html
The rick rack is a die cut and the stripes is a piece from a scrapbook kit.

A Different Kind of Love

Such a sweet digital by Digi Doodle Shop.  There is something about girls and horses, some kind of special love.  I know one of my grand daughters is looking forward to owning her own horse.  She is so anxious.

Love Is In The Air(mail)

An old stamp by Craftsmart that I got in a dollar bin years ago.  It only sees the light of day in February.  I need to make a mental note to use it during the year, especially for cards for Operation Write Home.   Here is the sketch I used:
And my card - used up some more scraps.  It was fun to make a little envelop to stick on.  Gave me a little trouble getting the right angle and size but it was worth the perseverance.  Two of the DPs are digital.

Valentines Day Is Almost Here

Just a few more days left to finish up my Valentines and this past weekend and this coming week is crazy so it is going to be a close race.  Here is the latest card that I worked on a few minutes at a time, literally!
Such a cute stamp by Unity. The little girl is from Forever Friends and the hearts are from Good Morning.  Paper-pieced the overalls, shirt, and a heart.  Used a little bit of marker and blender pen to highlight the seams in her overalls.  Heart lace is some my mom gave me as she was cleaning out her sewing room.   Love it.

For My One and Only on Friday

Loving my new set of stamps by Ippity called Authentic Man.  I colored it but many tiny details so next time I use it, I think it will be just stamped and not colored.  I used a Sakura silver pen in some places to highlight some chrome.  Even though I do like to color, my hand is often not steady enough to do this tiny detail.
I used one of the sketches at CPS which works well with my style - simple, not much frill.

Hoppy Birthday

Here is a card I made for a little boy in my Awana class whose birthday is in a few days.  I used a stamp set from Gina K Design, Just So Hoppy.
I used a scrap piece of DP then ran it through the Cuttlebug folder.  Used a few dew drops on the splashes and one by the sentiment.
Here is the sketch  I used at CPS http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/

Guess Whoo Loves You ?

My post a few days ago was entitled Who Am I?  I thought about posting this one as Whooo Am I, but that would be way to confusing and corny .  But with the owl and the challenge at Stampin Sisters in Christ, it was tempting.
I love this digital set (owls and DP) by Doodle Pantry.  And pre-colored is right up my alley because I do like simple and fast.  This is a great sketch for me too - same requirements: simple and fast.
I used my wood cuttlebug folder and then decorative scissors hoping to achieve the wood/bark look.  Sentiment was done on the computer.
