Another Super Kid Card

I love these digital images by Doodle Garden of kids in their supper capes.  I have used them several times and I think they are so cute.  They make great cards for kids, telling them that they are super.

For this card I used the sketch at What if ? Wednesday sketch.
The background paper is digital paper by Doodle Pantry.
I used pencils to color the image.

K.I.S.S.

Keep It Simple, Sister.  That is how I felt when I sat down to do some cards.  I really wanted to make a few but felt a little lazy.  Okay, a lot lazy.
But I did at least color an image in stead of use a pre-colored one which is sooo easy to do with Doodle Pantry's beautiful images.
The image is from the set Black Eyed Susan
And the sketch is Your Next Stamp

I used up a piece of gingham designer paper. The bee stickers (I told you I was feeling lazy) are from an old Stampin'Up scrapbook kit.
Sentiment is Verve.

Have a wonderful weekend.  Hope you get a chance to be a little lazy too.

Kitty with a Mustache

It is not obvious but this card is a back to school card. Seriously.

Explanation:  my granddaughter just got a kitty (her first) last week.  Now she will be heading off to school, leaving kitty behind.  So my card to her is to let her know that she will be on my mind the first day of school.  But as she reads the sentiment, she may think that the kitty is on her mind or that she is on the kitty's mind.  See, I covered all the bases with one sentiment!  which is by Verve.
The kitty image is by Doodle Pantry.  The kitty is black with a white mustache and white paws but has to be on the gray side to show up on the card. Here is the Doodle Pantry set:
I used the Mojo Monday sketch:
And for those of you who follow me on a regular basis, you will know that from time to time, I try to get shabby.  So this is another attempt.  The background paper is a piece of October Afternoon Field Trip paper which has school related drawings and words.  The other designer papers are just pieces in my stash, distressing most of them. Base is Kraft.  I used a flower from Close to My Heart and a heart charm that has been in my stash for years.
What do you think?

Challenges:
Kraft Outlet - colors
Crafty Creations - shabby
Simon Wednesday Challenge - back to school
Totally Papercraft - tags and hearts
Love to Scrap - bingo:  ribbon, sentiment, flower
Verve - layers
Dutch Dare - animal antics

I Did It! A One Layer Card!

You could count the number of my one layer cards on one hand and have fingers left over.  Not easy for me.  They always look unfinished.  But this one isn't too bad.
I chose the colors in the Unity Challenge, using the house from January 2012 Kit of the Month.  The sentiment is also Unity.  The hearts are Stampin' Up

Challenges:
Pile It On - no designer paper
Unity Friends with Flair
Sister Act - anything

Off To Kindergarten

This card is for one of my granddaughters who will be starting Kindergarten this year.

The digital image is Maise Belle by Designed2Delight which I colored with pencils.  The sketch is Seems A Little Sketchy:

The corners are made with a crayon stamp and cut out apples.  I just received some washi tape from the Kraft Journal so had to use that.  And the "G" chipboard piece is for her name.

Challenges:
Pile It On - no designer paper
Frosted Design - chipboard
Sister Act - anything
Clear It Out - school and chipboard
Simon Wednesday Challenge - back to school

Back to School Times Nine

It is time (actually past time) to get my back to school cards finished.  Two grandchildren have already started and 6 more next week.
I wanted to keep them simple but so far, this card is the only one that I didn't spend a lot of time with fussy cutting, etc.   This great schoolroom scene is by Doodle Pantry.  The set is School Sheep.
I super-imposed the words onto the chalk board and then after printing, went over the black letters with a white Signo pen.  I rubbed a little white craft ink onto the board to give the appearance of chalk dust.  Other additions - silver to the pencil, ribbon marker in book, necklace and flower in teacher's hair.  Even though I used a pre-colored version, I did add some color here and there for more highlights and depth.
I was going to make this a one layer card but cut it and put it on a green base.  Just can't do those one layer cards.

Challenges:
Twist of Faith - animals
Sister Act - anything
Clearly i Stamp - school
Your Next Stamp - colors
Pile It On - no designer paper

Blog Candy Winner and A Card

Thank you for all the Birthday wishes.  I had to laugh at some of you with your Happy 29th.  And I would be reluctant to guess someones age based on a photo too.  But just to let you in on the answer - I am now 64.
And the winner, drawn randomly is Julie Odil.
Now how about a card?  Every once in a while I truly love the card I have created.  That happened this time.  It is for my granddaughter who is horse crazy.  Doodle Pantry has so many western images and papers. I used three sets for this card.

The sheriff star and horse shoe paper is from the set "Barbed Wire" and the strip of black, brown, and pink horses is from the set "Saddle Up Color".  For the circle of barbed wire from the set "Barbed Wire Accents", I sponged Tim Holz Distress Ink on the circle after cutting it out with a Spellbinders circle die.
Laurie has images of horses in some of her sets but I have already used those for previous birthday cards so I used two images from an Inkadinkado set, fussy cutting the line of horses and attaching to a burlap ribbon.

Sketch is Mojo Monday sketch:

 Have a wonderful weekend.

Challenges:
Simon Monday Challenge - die cuts
Simon Wednesday Challenge - monochromatic
Pile It On - outdoors
Timeless Tuesday - autumn colors.

In A Jam

We are so fortunate to live on several acres and to have a large garden.  In that garden, we have several rows of blueberries and several rows of strawberries.   There are thousands of acres of blueberries and raspberries grown commercially in our county.  But the one berry that grows like a weed everywhere it gets a chance is blackberries.  So we have an abundance of them too.  In fact, my husband has to get pretty aggressive destroying them with his tractor.  I don't like making jam in the heat so I pick all these wonderful berries in the sun, freeze them and then make jam when it is cooler. One of my grandsons (6 yr) wants to make jam with me.  So I made this card to send to him to talk about a date and let him know I have enough picked now.

This beautiful digital image is by Doodle Pantry. I used the precolored version which I lightened a bit before printing and then added a little more purple pencil and highlights with white pen.  Laurie has other berry sets too.  Love them all. The paper comes with the set.
Come play the challenge at Doodle Pantry Digital Doodles.  This adorable Pumpkin Peeps digital set is for you just for playing along.

The sketch I used for my card is Tuesday Morning Sketch :
It is cloudy this morning so I think I better get outside and pick some more berries before it gets too hot.

My Birthday Means Blog Candy

My birthday is fast approaching - only a week away.  And I want you to celebrate with me so I am giving one of you a present.
I have offered blog candy several times before but always in an OWH blog hop.   I never insisted that you become a follower in order to enter the drawing.  But this time, I want to thank you for being followers and therefore this birthday candy is only for one of my followers.  Of course the reasons I have a blog is to share some of my card ideas with you (as well as enter challenges because I am addicted to them) so I do hope my blog has been inspirational to some of you.
If you are new to this blog, I would love to have you follow too. Just click one of the follow buttons then you can enter for this candy too.

So here is what the candy looks like:
Creative Memories Thank You album
Inkadinkadoo Sweet Dreams stamp set
Set of Cuttlebug folders
Set of Cuttlebug dies
Adhesive foam dots
Foam Stamps
Liquid Pearls - white opal

So if you would like to be in this drawing, here are the things you must do:
1.  Be or become a follower
2.  Wish me a happy birthday on this post (after all, it is for my birthday!)
3.  Guess how old I will be on this birthday.  I'll throw in an extra goodie if your name is drawn and you guessed right.  My profile pic is a few years old so here is a photo of me and my new grandson on July 7.

My birthday is Aug 16.  You can post a comment (only one per person, please) between now and Aug. 16 midnight PDT.
I will randomly draw a winning name Aug 17.

Again, thank you for following.

Now on to a card:

I had fun using the Unity sketch last week so I made another card with that same sketch.
This Unity stamp is from the set - Your Friendship, My Cup of Tea
I used Tombow and Stampin Up markers to color the stamp, then after "huffing", stamped onto white cardstock.  Some paper piercing, some twine, and a fun card in very little time.

Challenges:
Unity - sketch
Created With Love - anything
Your Next Stamp - color inspiration

Well, I Woke Up This Morning

...you were on my mind.  Remember that song?  If you do, you are as ancient as I am!
I made this card from a digi I had printed out a long time ago and I plan to send it to OWH, but my hubby is working out of town and he is on my mind.  I guess that is why I pulled out this digi to work with and added this sentiment by Verve.

The sketch is at House That Stamps Built:
Very simple.  Colored the digi with pencils, cut it out and glued it onto wood grain designer paper.

Challenges:
One Stop Craft - keep it simple

There is a touch of Sakura Clear Star ink in the center of the flower.  Arrow is cut with a Verve die.

August - One of My Favorite Months

There are so many wonderful things about August - hot weather, little rain, a local airshow, the county fair, my birthday.  Oh, yes.  It is almost that time of year - AGAIN.
But for today, it is August 1st and that means a new release at Doodle Pantry.
Here is a card I made with one of the new, beautiful digital sets for August:

I used one of the flowers and one of the sentiments for this card.  I love Magnolias so I am excited about this new set. And this is the free set you will receive with a purchase at Doodle Pantry between August 1 - 24.

For the second card, I made a wreath of flowers, putting the sentiment in the middle.  Oh, the fun we can have with digitals!
The ribbon and bow are seem binding.  I masked the wreath and sponged a bit of Blush ink around the wreath.  The border is a Reflections punch.
Don't forget to check out all the new sets at Doodle Pantry.  I can hardly wait to use some of them.

P.S. About my birthday.  It is in two weeks so stay tuned for a blog candy announcement the first of next week.
