Cards for Kids

Lately I have taken some time each day to color or make a card.  I am madly trying to get things done outside before the rains hit and right behind that winter.  So after I have worn myself out, I come in, take a shower and then do a little coloring.
It has been awhile since I made up a box of cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids so I am concentrating on images kids would enjoy.

This image is by Dearie Dolls.  Sentiment is by From the Heart which I cut out with a Spellbinder Pumpkin die, drew some lines, and distressed the edges with Pumpkin Pie ink.
The sketch is MFT

Knitting Season

It has been raining here for a few days.  We needed it but I do hope it isn't here to stay til June!  One thing the rain brings - days indoors.  So, I am starting on Christmas gifts.  A good portion of the Christmas gifts we give are homemade - jam, baked goods, crocheted items.    Power Poppy has this lovely digital stamp.  I added my own sentiment which is the desire of my heart - that everything I do, make, or say will be for the praise of God who made me and gave me talents and abilities.

Power Poppy's challenge is to stamp and color on Kraft.  Image is colored with Copics and cut with a Spellbinder die.  The sentiment is also cut with a Spellbinder.

Latte to Go

Pumpkin Spice Latte is the favorite.  Don't you wish you could get one with a beautiful sleeve like what is on this Stamploration stamp?
My DIL love pumpkin spice lattes.  She had one while they were staying here two weeks ago.  So I decided to make her birthday card with an Autumn latte cup, coloring the design with Copics.  The BG paper is a scrap.  The swirl and acorns are embossed so after cutting out the Happy Birthday, I rubbed it with Versamark and embossed with clear empossing powder to match the swirl.  Then the cup looked drab so I masked off the top and bottom of the cup so I could use do clear embossing on the sleeve.  I wish you could see this IRL.  I took 20 pics but could not capture the embossed shine without glare.  Underneath the cup I put a few leaves (Spellbinder) which I had cut out and added ink to the embossed parts.
Now for the inside:
I had to print out the word "wishing" but all the rest of the words are die cuts (you - Simon Says, a brew-tiful day - Stamploration) . Last step was to emboss a stitched border using a Die-namics Stitched Rectangle.

Thanks for looking.

Some Mornings

The image I used for this card cracks me up, although some times I feel like this - too early.
The image is a Dearie Doll digital stamp.  The sentiment? I think I downloaded it from Ginger's House.
After coloring the image with copics and pencils, I made a coffee ring by pressing a round tin onto distress ink and then pressing that onto the paper.  The coffee splash is a stamp by Joy Clair.
Die-namics Stitched Rectangle was the die used.

First Coffee Card For Fall

Here is my first coffee card for this Fall's Coffee Lovers challenge.  I hope it is the first of many but we will see how things go.  I used the freebie at Stamploration.
Background EF is Darice.  Ovals are Elizabeth Crafts Stitched Ovals.  After I cut out the leaves with Impression Obsession dies, I ran them through the Cuttlebug again to emboss and then added some color to them.  Image and leaves are colored with Copics and Prisma pencils.
Thanks for looking and enjoy the blog hop at the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog.

Experimenting With Distress Oxide

I was excited to play with some new Distress Oxide ink pads but as I tried to blend them, I soon realized that I need some new round daubers.  I only have the rectangle distress ink sponges.  I am blaming my less than satisfactory results with that and I am sticking to that excuse!
But seriously, I am not that unhappy with the results.
The image and sentiment are from the Altenew Beautiful Lady stamp set.
The colors I used : Picked Raspberry, Wild Honey, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers

More Mail for Males

It is time to make a few more birthday cards for the guys in my family.  I had fun using this week's sketch at MFT.  My first card was a bomb out and got tossed in the circular files.  But this one turned out pretty good.
I started with a piece of printed Kraft cardstock and cut out a window.  Then I flipped over that piece so that the solid Kraft showed.  Next step was to cut the window frame using two dies from the Rectangle Stax and the Stitched Rectangle Stax (MFT).  After cutting out the happy birthday (Elizabeth Crafts die) and adhering that to the window,  I cut out a small banner (? company) , "drew" a line with liquid pearls and added some Stickles.
Here is the sketch:

Time For Rest

Wow, what a week!  I thought after the grands went back to school, things would slow down.  No.  We had our son and his family for six days because they had to get out of the smoke of the forest fires where they live.  Three active boys and a new baby.  Here is a pic of my precious new grandson, 2 weeks old. He is so good, we hardly knew he was with us.
They went back home Friday night so we spent Saturday with another son and his wife at a Wooden Boat show.  I am tired!
Sunday is a day of rest and I surely could use some R and R so I had a late, leisurely breakfast on the front porch, took a nap, and then spent a few hours in my newly organized craft room.  I can actually find things now- hahaha. I figure I will have to live til I am 220 years old in order to use all my designer paper! but at least it is sorted and categorized now.
So, here is one of the images I colored and turned into a card.

Stamp - Altenew
Background paper - Doodle Pantry

I think I will do some more coloring - so therapeutic.  Tomorrow I will have to re-enter reality - laundry, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing little hand marks off windows, door, etc.  (And to think I used to do that every day with my own six children!)  But today I rest.

Sharing Sorrow

Sometimes friends or members of the family experience events that you wish you could fix.  Instead you just have to make yourself available in case that person needs to unload.  I made this card for someone whom I hope will feel free to do that.
The sentiment is Unity.  The beautiful wild rose image is by Ginna Maxam.  I printed it onto embossed vanilla cardstock then colored it with Copics.  The ovals are Spellbinder.  I made a rose colored frame to go on top of the image oval.
Edges are sponged with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink.

Year Round Sports

Do you remember when we had specific seasons for individual sports?  Now, it seems, they are year round.  That is just fine for a couple of my grands - baseball fans for sure.  So here is a card I made for one of them using a new Power Poppy stamp set.
I would not have thought to stamp this image on to Kraft but the challenge at Power Poppy piqued my interest.  I like it.  It adds to the masculine effect.
Ovals are cut with Elizabeth Crafts Stitched Ovals.
Image is colored with Copics and Prisma pencils.
Even with coloring and sponging, it needed more interest so I added some criss cross stitches on the side.

Time To Color

Yeah!  I grabbed some time yesterday to color.  The 30 day Color Challenge is reminding me to take some time each day to color and I love coloring (even with crayons with my grands!)
Here is the card I came up with:
I colored the free page by Stamploration and then thought, "now what".  I considered die cutting a big Thanks for the front but then wondered if this triple cut would look good.  I really like how it turned out.  Everything is colored with Copics.  The rectangles are cut with MFT dies.  Ribbon and flower are from my stash.
Okay, back to work but hopefully I will be back with another card tomorrow because I do plan on coloring again this evening!
