It turns out Mom's Thanksgiving plans have changed yet again (this is her son writing).
Instead of dining on the traditional and delicious Thanksgiving offerings, Mom will be selecting from a menu that includes Jell-o, pudding, and Saltines. The nurses in the Cardiovascular Unit will have it no other way, quite frankly.
Mom is in the Cardiovascular Unit recovering from an unscheduled and surprise quadruple-bypass open-heart surgery. She went in on Monday for check-ups, and was told that she wasn't leaving until they addressed the scary blockage they discovered. Surgery commenced on Tuesday morning.
We've all known her heart was very beautiful; turns out, it's very strong too. The doctors were impressed with its strength and expect a very quick and full recovery. She's in good moods, upset only that she's "inconveniencing" all of us.
We expect her to resume her talented creating activities very shortly.
None of my Mom's card-making skills were passed to me. I won't speak for my sisters on this, but let's just say that crayon is our weapon of choice for making cards. Needless to say, we need some help.
If you'd be so kind, please create a card for my Mom. I know you card wizards really like creating and sending actual cards, but a scanned version sent to grammas.room@gmail.com would be meaningful as well.
Thanks very much,
Andrew
Thanks for the update!! I'll keep praying for her!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear that surgery was a success and Marsha is in good spirits. If you could please email me her home address, I will pass the information to the Doodle Pantry team members so we can send her cards. Please let your mom know we are thinking and praying for her and wish her a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the update. We'll keep her on the prayer list! It's good to hear that the doctors think she has a strong heart for quick recovery.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. Big "gentle" hugs to Marsha, and praying for a speedy recovery. Thanks bunches for the update. I would give the card making/sending a go, but I'm so new, by the time she got the card, she'd be questioning what it was for...lol

What a wonderful post for your Mom. Wishing her a speedy recovery and all good things. We at Doodle Pantry will miss her but know she will be back soon creating beautiful things. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Marsha, I just came across this post (I have been spending time scouring blogs of OWHers for samples for the upcoming 2013 Design Bootcamp class I'm doing) and just wanted to wish you the best. Based on the more recent posts it looks like you are making a fantastic recovery! Would it be okay if I used a card we had as part of your Featured Friday Cardmaker post for a class sample? I'm guessing you wouldn't mind but if you don't want me to use it just shoot me an email at paula(at)operationwritehome.org.
