Teen Girl Birthday

Several of the birthdays in July and August are for teen granddaughters.  Here is a card for one turning 13.  This little gal reminds me so much of the recipient.
I wanted to do the smash technique (with distress oxide inks) behind the girl but could not figure out how to do that without fussy cutting the whole image.  So, I stamped her on the cardstock then masked the image so I could add the distress oxide inks.
Here was my inspiration that I was hoping to copy a bit more than I did.

  1. Very cute!! Fabulous background; it really draws the eye to the sweet image. Thanks for playing with the House That Stamps Built.

  2. So So pretty, Marsha ! Love the distress oxide background you created. Texture and colors are perfect and very creative. This card is totally adorable. Your granddaughter will love it for sure.
Thank you so much for joining us at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge .
Hope you will join us in our future challenges, too.

  3. Bright and cheery. I love the splash of inked background and the image is darling. This card popped right out at me.

  4. I liked her card too. And I too didn't quite get the look I was going for. I think I need lessons on just the right amount of splatter. LOL. I love how you colored your little girl. I think your colorful background is beautiful.Thank you for helping STAMPlorations celebrate 5 years.

  5. Very cute! Your inked background looks very beautiful, I love the colors you chose. The die cut flowers add a lot of beautiful detail. Thanks for joining us at Time Out!

  6. That background is fantastic, love how you made it look like the colours are spreading outwards behind the girl, very clever. Your girl is beautifully coloured and really like the die-cut skirt, such a great way to add interest and dimension. I bet this card will be loved by your grand-daughter and I'm so glad you shared it with us at TIME OUT!
