Late But Worth It

The Doodle Pantry September release is here - a few days late but worth it.  Such lovely sets again this month.  You must hop over to the store and see these new sets. 
I chose to work with the beautiful set "Apples".  As I told Laurie, how could I not do Washington Apples?  My State and with relatives owning some of the largest orchards in Washington?

For this first card, I colored one of the single apples with pencils and used some of the digital paper in the set. 

This is the sketch I used found at 2 Sisters turned on its side:

I made the plaid background paper - love reds and browns together.  Don't you love this sentiment?

For the second card, I used one of the pre-colored images, another piece of the digital papers and a piece from another D.P. set. 
The embossing folder is Cuttlebug and the flower that I thought would look like an apple blossom is a Verve stamp.  The base is GKD  Green Jelly Bean cardstock.

Time For Christmas Cards

For Operation Write Home, that is.  Otherwise, I would be waiting until December ! ~  You know me, mojo comes under pressure.

I did have fun making this card.  I used the MFT sketch for the week

The first panel is embossed with a Cuttlebug floder.  The Christmas BG paper is from the Echo Park "Winter Park" 6 x 6 pad.  Plaid is a scrap.
Tree image and the sentiment are Verve.
I stamped the tree 4 times and then cut out each layer.  Sakura Clear Star is used to line the embossed line around the sentiment to give a little interest.
I guess it's not so bad making Christmas cards this early.  So I better get busy and make more!

I Dig You

Cards for kids.  Aren't they just fun to make?  And I love sending them off to OWH for some of our heroes to send back to their children.

The image and background paper is by Doodle Pantry.  The set is "Toy Truck Ants".  So Cute !

I used the sketch at 2 Sisters.  Love the simplicity of the sketch. 

The strip is dark Kraft which I wrapped with blue, yellow, and natural twine.  The sentiment is computer generated.
The VCMP challenge at OWH was to make a card for a child but with items on a tic, tac, toe grid.  I chose die (truck panel and border around that panel, wheel, and kid friendly embellishment.

OWH VCMP #5

The #5 challenge for the Operation Write Home VCMP was a technique new to me.  I tried it and really liked the results.   I could not get enough ink onto the tape for a good laying down of ink so I spritzed the ink before stamping and it worked well.

The cardstocks are StampinUP Pumpkin Pie, Vanilla.  Inks are StampinUp Pumpkin Pie and Apricot Appeal.  The stamp images and sentiment are GinaK Designs.

OWH Challenge #4

I'm working my way through the OWH VCMP challenges, not necessarily in order so this is challenge 4 - a sketch.

Just had to play with my new stamp set by MFT.  Going to be so fun making up "words" for this license plate.  I bet I have had this piece of designer paper for 10 years.  Some of those papers get so far into the pile, it is a wonder they ever see the light of day. Can't believe I remembered I had it or could find it!  One of these days I should go through the stacks and organize them into categories.  Now that would really be a project!  Maybe sometime when the mojo is missing, I'll work on that.

School Year Is In Session

This is the last back to school card that I made for a grandchild that starts school tomorrow.  Even though I am just the grandma to these kids, I am happy to see the school year start.  It means more systematic, scheduled days for me too, and Awana which I will be involved with again this year.

I had fun making this card.  The notebook paper, paper clips, pencil, and sentiment are all Doodle Pantry digitals - two sets, "Notebook Paper" and "Pencil and Paperclip".   One of the things I love about digital images is how you can change the sizes and interpose image over image. I interposed the clips and the pencil onto the paper, then punched holes on the side.  The dragon is by Dustin Pike.

Bee Careful This Labor Day Weekend

After traveling across six states in three days, I didn't know if I could sit any longer but wanted so much to get back to stamping and making cards and the virtual stamping party at Operation Write Home.  When I arrived home from the trip, there were new stamp sets in my mailbox.  I was really excited that one of the challenges at OWH was to use bees and bee sentiment because one of my new sets was a set from The Crafts Meow, Thanks Bee to Thee

I used Stampin Up Barely Banana, Chocolate Chip, and Really Rust card stock, corresponding inks and Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, and Close to Cocoa inks.  It does not show up in the photo but I outlined the bee's wings with Sakura Clear Star ink.  Embossing folder is Cuttlebug.
